For children photography, it is best done at places where they are familiar with. E.g. home or park where they usually go. Children would feel at ease. Parents (or helpers) are encouraged to play with the children during the shooting.

If you want both outdoor and indoor shots, it is advised to have the indoor shots taken first. Children would become tired after the outdoor "excitment".

For indoor, activities like painting, drama-play, hide-and-seek, music and dancing, bathing, even eating are good.

Outdoor like playing in the park, ball games or swimming are fun to have photos taken.

For infants (who cannot walk yet) it is advised to have most of the photo-shooting done at home.

The photo shooting will take two hours, either early in the morning or in the afternoon, try to avoid the child's feeding and napping time.

What kind of equipment are you using?

 I am using Canon Mark II 1Ds which is the highest model of Canon Professional Digital Camera. The camera body itself costs HK$60,000 already. Also, all my lens are Canon; 50mm 1.4, 70-200mm 2.8, 16-35mm 2.8 and 24-70mm 2.8.
